new guy here. grew up with trail bikes. took a few years off, got into street bikes. i bought a drz400s back in may. added another 3,600 miles to the clock since then. i mainly just hit the dirt roads around home. i have some trails i ride and maintain at my fathers. i stumbled across this site yesterday whilt looking into scrambles. i'd like to do a few next year. seems like the duel sport wouldnt be too out of place there.

Check http://www.sorcs.net as well as highland park for great hare scrambles opportunities. There is family fun ride coming up in Milledgeville this month. Look for details on this forum.

Pull off the mirrors, put on some knobs and bark busters and have fun. If you like it get a more race oriented bike. You see a wide range of bikes from beginner trail bikes to top GNCC pros at the races. When you hear "woo woo" pull to the side and let the big dogs pass and everyone races or rides together all happily. ::yippie::

Helmets gloves and boots at minimum. More is always better for an old man like me.

I like to wear the armored jacket, and I always wear work boots. I ditched the mirrors a few weeks ago. I'll take my chances with Leo. I have the metal style bark buster. Really just prevents a tree or other bike from contacting the levers. A friend gave me a mx front take off. I had no idea knobbies cost so much. I haven't bought dirt tires in over ten years. Dang things cost almost as much as a decent street tire!!

I have to do a plug for GARTRA.net and the OHV trails that are maintained for the hobbist

We also host 2-3 Dual Sport rides per year.

the DRZ is a great combo bike.
