Lots of both - typical fast sections with lots of passing opportunities, and a lot of single track. However, I made the single track sections so that where there can be, there are 2 or 3 or sometimes a handful of lines through the trees, so passing is available, no one is stuck in endless conga lines. Those "multiple choice" single track sections are pretty cool. ::up::

About 60% typical fast Hare Scramble trail with passing available in plenty of places. About 40% single track, but the single track is not the super tight wiggle your bars through the trees stuff. It flows very well, and I have added multiple lines in a handful of places in the single track sections so there are places to pass. There are two areas of single track with more than a handful of possible lines, and lots of places where there are 2-3 line choices. Almost no time spent on any part of the Perimeter Loops, and only the first lap of each 2 lap moto has any MX track in it, just enough to spread people out a bit after the start, before they duck into the woods.

There is a ton of new never ridden trail you don't want to miss. Plus lots of older race only trails I have not used in over a year - actually had to use a weedeater to mow the grass/weeds in some places! Only parts of three existing "every day" trails will be used, and those sections will be groomed and perfect. This is without a doubt the best, most fun Hare Scrambles course ever, don't miss it!

Hi Paul,

I know of quite a few families coming from the SORCS racing series who are not familiar with Highland Park.

Is the plan for the racers who are camping to go to the grass field near the MX track? I think a few of us are coming Friday night.

The start will be in the normal MX starting gate area. so parking/camping will be in the big grass area. I have been contemplating using the shortest loop through the grass parking as pit road for the race, which would be very cool I think, especially with the new format. However, if I allow full race speed on pit road, it's going to be a bit dusty because it is out in the sun all day. I can water it on Saturday, so it won't be terribly dusty Sunday, just a bit dusty. So my choices are:

1. No pit road, just park where ever you like in the grass field.
2. Use the loop through the grass as pit road, full race speed, deal with some dust
3. Use the loop through the grass as pit road, slow 10mph pace, no dust

I welcome input from everyone on this.

There seems to be a race or two or three every weekend in Oct. Just gotta pick which one is most appealing to you. ::up::

How many racers do you have pre-registered in 40B?

One 40B pre registration so far, but most pre entries come the last 5 days before the event, and only about 40% of entries are done as online pre registrations. I guarantee this Zombie is not one you want to miss. The course is stellar and has big sexy curves like Marilyn Monroe!

It's official, boys are registered! As far as pit row, I say option 1 for the pit row. With only 2 laps, really shouldn't be a need for a refuel so seems it would just be a parade route unless I'm missing something. Next option would be the 10 mph route, but I'd imagine that'll be fun enforcing that one.

Definitely no refueling during the race, a pit road would mostly be an organized spectator area along the course.

That was hilarious. For those not there at that Zombie a few years back, Hunter Williams "costume" was a bicycle basket mounted on the front of his race bike with an ET doll in it, just like in the ET movie. Rode the whole race with ET flailing around in the basket until whatever (zip tie?) was holding him in let go, and ET went flying. ::cheers::

Awesome, I'm sold. I'll pre-register tonight. Thanks Paul. Can't wait.
