I see more and more people at each race covering race class stickers with their goggles.
Read the rules "Class stickers should be placed on the back near
bottom of helmet, below goggle strap. Missing or covered stickers is subject to
penalty. Stickers will be checked at the start. Missing, incorrect or covered stickers
will not be allowed to race."

So let's start following the rules.
Okay? Thanks ::up::

A few thoughts:

1) I liked the way GNCC did it with color stickers. Color = class so even if you couldn't read the letters you could still see the color and know if they were in your class or not.

2) Should it even matter? If you are faster, pass them. If you aren't, let them go.

::cheers::

It may not matter. I guess it just bothers me that some people are following the rules and some aren't. But if it doesn't matter then why are they covering them up? Some other races don't use class stickers and and that's fine.
It is nice to know who you are racing and who you passed or got passed by.

I like knowing if someone's in my class or not so I don't 'whoop' at them to pass if they are in my class. Had a guy in my class do that to me at a race one time. I didn't think it was too sporting.

I'd guess the majority of it isn't intentional. I know I never paid much attention to goggle trap placement VS sticker placement. Mainly because I always assumed if I was faster I would pass and if they were faster they would pass, regardless of what class anyone is in or what their sticker says.

I just can't see any advantage to purposely hiding the sticker. So I've always assumed it was purely incidental.

I guess I just always saw it as "if he whooped he's faster and needs by".

I agree. If you come up on someone that's in your class then you should race them. But if they covered up their sticker then I guess it's their own fault if you "whoop' them aside.

I don't believe people don't know where their goggle strap goes.

I of course wouldn't ever call someone out at a race about this. And wouldn't like to see anyone penalized. It's just something I've noticed more of this year and wondered if I was the only one.

Really?.....C'mon man!
Errrrrrrrbody know where goggle straps sit on their helmet & where they place their sticker.
We all know why they are covering them up.

Calling someone out is the only way it'll ever change. Not enough policing going on at the starting line to stop this.

I did my first SORCS race in the fall of 2009 & it has been happening as long as I've raced the series. There is at least (AT LEAST) one racer at every race that does this. Usually younger kids (High School age) are the worst about it.

It's right there with the sandbagging IMO. I guess bragging to your friends about finishing first is better than racing with people your own race speed. ::loser::
There's always gonna be somebody that's lap times are mid-pack with A-Class, but they chose to race B-Class or C-Class instead. ::loser::

Don't worry though. You'll either eventually realize nothing is gonna change and won't let it bother you, or you'll get burnt out and will start to only race 2 or 3 races a year.

So what's the big advantage of covering up your class sticker? Are people lining up on the wrong row?

No, I think you're the only one who knows. Please enlighten us.

They don't want you to know you just got passed by someone in your class. Let's say it's the last lap and you been holding 3rd the whole race and getting tired. Maybe you start to slow down a little being tired and all. Then some guy passes you and you see he's in your class and you just lost third. You're gonna now get back on it and try to catch him. If he's covering his sticker then he may have slipped right by you.

Maybe try racing everyone like they're in your class. Suddenly the sticker issue is resolved. :D

::up:: I wish I could be that awesome...to just know I'm gonna pass everyone.

Maybe stop having your mom put your boots and helmet on for you and you'll know where your goggle strap goes.

Sorry you're so offended by honesty.

I'm not saying you should be faster than everyone. Just saying give everyone a sporting race. If you think you can hang with them, do it! When I'm out there I'm racing with #2 from my first post. I'm giving all I got and you're gonna earn your pass. This whole "saw his sticker and suddenly got remotivated to race" idea seems silly.

Dude, I'm not offended. I'm just having fun with you.

When I'm on the last lap and someone in my class passes me I say "oh no you don't" then the Rocky theme starts playing in my head and I get all "remotivated" and I let er rip.
But you think the idea of racing seems silly.
