Hey Paul, I'd like to work this race for you guys. Should I come up early to help mark the course or anything?

What would I need to bring besides my bike and a yellow vest?

Thanks! I will do the last of the course prep and marking overnight before race morning, but we always need help on race day. ::up::

Teams can be 3 or 4 riders except duo (2 riders) and Ironman (1 rider.) Youngest and/or fastest class rider on the team dictates the class for your team. Your team must enter a class that fits the age of your youngest rider, AND fits the team's fastest rider (Expert or Sportsman) A team composed of two 38 year olds and a 42 year old must ride in a 40+ class. Three C riders and an A rider will ride in one of the Exert classes. A team with a 31 yr old C rider, a 42 yr old B rider, and a 50 yr old C rider would enter the 30+ Expert class.

So someone younger than 40 can ride the 40+ class? The age required classes should be everyone meets the requirement. Skill requirements are ride the class as the fastest on team. I think it was right last year.

Sooner or later I will learn to proof read the whole dang thing to make sure it is correct. Yes, the youngest member of the team dictates the class, not the oldest member. I will fix that example shortly, thanks for pointing out the error!

EDIT: Fixed 6:48am!

The course is mostly set now, and there is almost ZERO time spent on the Perimeter loops. Mostly just crossing the Perimeter now and then. All trails and some short connectors joining trails together, plus about a third of a lap on MX1. The course runs all over the property, backwards, forwards, over here, over there, everywhere - it's awesome!

Did you move pit row? I know you mentioned finding a bigger space in a previous post.

We are either coming down Friday afternoon or Saturday morning and I'm happy to hang around pit row to direct folks where to go.

the Pro teams must have 3 or 4 riders, but if you want, you can use 1 or 2 riders as back up riders in case one of the primary riders sustains an injury. There is no requirement that everyone on the team ride a minimum number of laps.

We do need more room on pit road, it was overcrowded last year. Pit road will be a lot longer this year, and judging by the number of pre entries, we will need it.

I would love to have some help getting people properly parked on pit road. I'm certain I will be out working on the course all day Sat and late into the night. Last year I did not come back out of the woods until dawn, but it was a kick arse course! ::up::

This year pit road will be down in the grass parking area below MX1 Lots more room than last year, and it will be open for set up on Saturday. Pre register online, and your team race packages will be ready for you when you arrive. Easy!

You can believe that I have been watching the weather. The forecast has been changing, with rain chances between 20% and 40% depending on which forecast you saw, then about a day and a half ago it started getting worse, going to 50%, 60%, 80%, and now 90% in about 36 hours time.

There is no way to successfully move the race to Saturday with only 3 days notice. I'm going to look at the forecast and radar one last time in the morning before I make the decision to cancel it.

RACE CANCELLED
Due to the rain coming in Saturday evening and continuing all day Sunday, I have to cancel the 6 Hour Team Race on New Year's Day. I will try to rescedule it for a few months from now. Closing the Park for a day and putting on a race like this takes advance planning, including making sure we do not have cabins and bikes reserved in advance for groups of folks driving in from out of state.

Everyone that preregistered will receive a refund. Please allow a few days for that to be reflected in your account.

PLEASE HELP GET THE WORD OUT - NO RACE THIS SUNDAY!

Paul, I hate hear you had to cancel again! I know what it takes to put on an event like that. Yours is even more involved with the park and dealership and cabins etc. I know I'm not exactly just down the road but if anyone is interested I'm still having a fun ride at my place. The rain isn't gonna be here til late tonight. So today the trails will be Prime!!

P.S.) I've got me a team together for the 6 hour race!! It's gonna be a blast!!

Man... it's a bummer. First the Zombie HS and now the 6 Hour. I love racing at Highland Park. I hope you guys aren't phasing out the offroad race scene there. I know it's only 5 races a year, but they would be sorely missed. I cut my racing teeth in your hare scrambles.

Here's (hopefully) looking forward to a whole racing schedule at HP this year! ::up::

I am not phasing out the racing, but I would like to put in a change order for the weather on race weekends. This is the third race in a row I had to cancel. ::rant::
