I really want to do another 6 hour team race over New Years, like we did last year. It's a ton of work, but it sure was fun, and I got great feedback from everyone about how much they liked the team format and long course, about 18 miles if I remember correctly.

This year, New Year's Eve falls on a Saturday, New Years day is Sunday, and the following Monday is the observed holiday date. If we run the race on Sunday, Jan 2, everyone a day to recover on Monday, and it gives the out of town folks a day to drive back home, but that puts the race on New Years day, right after New Years Eve... maybe not the best for the "up late, bring in the New Year" crowd. ::cheers::

The other option is to race on Saturday, New Years Eve, then everyone can go home, get ready for NYE parties, recover for 2 days before going back to work. Comments and suggestions welcome on the best day to run the race, but Sunday is probably going to work best for the most people.

I would also like to hear any other suggestions for the Team Race, and I will mention now that we will have a lot longer pit road this time. I made pit road the length it was last year based on pre registrations, and we had a lot more people show up that were not pre registered, so pit road got pretty crowded.

Saturday would most likely be best so everybody can ingest some pain killer that night and have two days to recover. My 2 cents worth.

Saturday, but it does not really matter. I'm to old to party, but not to old to ride. ::up::

New Years Day. Make it an 8 hour race and then party at HP to bring in the New Year. ::yippie:: ::yippie::

We always have a group in the cabins and camping on NYE. Usually a fireworks display at the MX track, a lot like July 4th here, just not 90 degrees. :)

Lots of Sat votes from local folks in this thread, however I have a lot of PM's and emails advising Sunday for a variety of reasons, the 2 most mentioned being:

- Motorcycle shop personnel that would normally be at the race will be working Sat.
- Out of state folks (or anyone more than a few hours away) need to travel and set up on Sat.

Last year we had a lot of folks from FL and TN and AL, plus of course a lot of folks from motorcycle shops all over the GA area (and beyond). Tough call, but Sunday may be the better day to accommodate everyone. We can have a Bon fire and fireworks Sat night to bring in the New Year at HP for everyone staying Sat night. Local folks can still drive out and set up on Sat, go home, come back Sunday morning to race.
