I was out of town and out of Cell service so I had my dad running my CL ad for my CRF 450r. My father was contacted by a gentleman. Who said he didn't have a truck so would he meet him near his house. Specifically a subdivision clubhouse. My father being too trusting, drove to Lithonia and met the guy. He showed up on foot about thirty minutes late just as it got dark out. Asked if he could test drive the bike. Thankfully my dad said he wanted to hold the money for the bike before he'd let him ride. The gentleman said his dad had the money and that it was all good and he'd be right back. Dad then put the bike back on the trailer and drove off from him. He contacted the police and this seems to be ongoing scam going on right now in that area. We were the 3rd person to give the same story. The others actually got their bikes stolen. Be careful out there. The gentleman was a African American male in his 30's. I have his cell phone # if you've had a similar request pm me and I can give it to you to cross reference.

As I read this, I'm waiting for someone to show up @ my house to see 1 of my bikes off a CL ad. It's a shame now days that I have to be armed & so cautious just to make a sale.

You should just post his number. I have no doubt that's the scam he's trying to pull. I see that junk every other week on Craigslist. Ya'll Don't Let People Test your Bikes Without Cash!

First red flag to me is someone buying a bike without any way to pick it up.

is the number 6817534912? I got a text about my bike from that one saying that they would pay me more than I am asking and gas to deliver. Claimed his kid wanted the bike but his truck was hit and his axle was damaged so he couldn't come pick it up. Always a red flag when someone offers more than you are asking.

Exactly. All other red flags aside, on a used bike sale to someone responding to your ad, if they won't put cash in your hand to test drive, then they only get to look and listen.

College Park area? Please report those numbers to your local police department via their non-emergency number... They have a task force that chases down these bastards.

Same guys tried that route calling Proline. Ended up robbing someone from GOR a few weeks later.

681-753-4912 <<<<<< THEY GOT ME!!!!

[color=#000000]College Park area MAY 25 2014 One young Black male that later picked up another black lighter skinned male had a female call claiming to be his mother (Chrissy) ALSO USED A TELEPHONE NUMBER[color=#BF0000]404-666-3227[color=#000000]Do not let anyone test drive ever unless they are driving on your land and even then only put in a drop of fuel !!! All things I wish I'd done. I did however almost manage to run him over with my Ford Excursion and could have shot him a couple times, if my kids weren't in the car CERTAINLY would have, had 8 bullets loaded and ready, clear shot more than once. Whoever he was, thank God for my kids you a**hole, they are the only reason your living!
BTW cops say it's a huge problem in Atlanta right now so do no sales there if you do call the cops ahead of time. My bike was a Yamaha 125cc blue bolts a cut pipe and fender to compensate for short muffler and wire wrapped on left grip, make shift blue sheet metal number plate I am sure the sticker will be removed by now. Keep EYEs open please good luck to all the victims I feel your pain!!
