Is it drugs allowed in US? No!!! Why some people bring it into the country??? MONEY...

Neither used bikes or drugs are not allowed in Brazil.. why they do it..MONEY... if they are catch they go to the jail.. if you buy the bike and any cop stop you (even the bike in the trailler) you go to the jail...
They stopped me a couple of times to check my trailler...

XR250 and XR200 are cheap there.. there is no sense to take the risk... CRF250X.. this one maybe...
You can drive the (tag) bike into the country and stay there for 6 months... that is why they drive into the country.

Guatemala is much easier...

Sorry, but things are not that easy down there.. that is why our jails and prisions are packaged of people..

I used to work with import process before.. and I am trying to find a way to take one or two bikes back... it is not easy.. I can tell you..

Gus

It is possible... but the problem will be later inside the country... who buy the bike can go to the jail..

Is like to drive a car that you do not know who belongs, no tag, no insurance... you will need a good explanation when stopped... ::popcorn::

As I said it can happen... but it is not for me...

I know that in the US, the kind of people you find on stolen motorcycles rarely pull over for the police, so maybe that's the case in South America and Central America too.

I tried some years late bring some of my race bikes into Brazil the hassle and the cost were just not feasible.

In Brazil the parking lot of the federal Police is full of arrested vehicles there were companies in US promising to be able to take a used vehicle in Brazil, it did not end up pretty. The import system in Brazil works connected to three agencies and each one check on the other one so even if you can bribe a customs agent you still needs to deal with the MVD and with the IRS as Guz said you might get in but no way you will ride it inside of country legally and much probably your bike will end up at the beautiful parking lot of the federal police.

BTW Brazil just allow importing of new vehicles but you have to apply to a license prior importing and the vin# need to match the original bill of sale of the manufacturer, used vehicles are not allowed and Federal Police and FBI work together to prevent criminal actions so if someone come to you and tell that will find a way to get in with the vehicle in Brazil , take care you might be later on liable to explanations to the FBI just ask it to the good folks of the Florida dealers I bet you they don’t want hear -used bikes and brazil.

I jsut dropped of a question at Brazilian customs... it is exactly what PFL said.... NO USED BIKE... they will be held...
New bikes are limited in quantity... more than 250cc will pay around 70-90% import tax...
That is why the bikes are expensive down there..

How you guys check the VIN number here in US?
