I have a 79 CR250 Honda Elsinore that's in good shape,, if anyone is interested in racing some of the Post Vintage/Evo MX classes. The tires are Michelin S12's and are in good shape. The forks are 41mm off of a 81 CR (stock was 39mm) but it still has the front drum brake. Rear shocks are Works,, and are in good shape.
The bike runs and shifts great and is ready to race. Am selling because of some chronic back problems and probably won't be racing it again. Asking $1600,, which includes a 80 CR 250 for a parts source.. I'd be interested in trading for a good 125 or 200 to hopefully do some trail riding. It's located in Hayesville NC,, which is just across the state line from Hiawassee GA. Post here or send me a PM , if interested..
thanks

I don't suppose you have the stock forks and the 23" front wheel to go with it?

I don't have the stock forks for this bike, but the 80 model parts bike does have stock forks.
Wasn't the 23 inch front wheel only used on the 125's??

Good Memories indeed.

My brother got a 125 version, brand new leftover, for 750.00 in 1982. The same price I paid for my 1982 CR80.

The 1979 cr125 was the only bike to ever have the 23" front wheel. the 250 was a 21. I had a bike like this one and would like to buy this bike but can't pay $1600, I could come up with $900 if you could go that low.

Pretty sure some of the XR's/XL's had a 23" front as well..

I believe that the 1978 - 1983 Honda XL 250 S were the only XL 250s that had 23" fronts. All the other XL 250s had 21".

The first thing most folks did with the 125's was to get rid of the 23' wheel, the thing handled like a chopper on a dirt track.
With the 21" installed the bikes were much more capable.... Great looking 250 though, those Red Rockets always looked
bad a**.......

I had a '79 CR125. The bike was pretty amazing for its day. I could turn under anybody at any given time. The bike handled extremely well because of, or in spite of the 23" front wheel.

Had a XL500 back then with that 23 inch front wheel. Man that thing was a wheelie machine!
