Mookie is sitting out the Nationals to prepare for 450sx.

The 450's are pretty stacked right now with 250 SX champions. I look for some great high speed battles in MX from the likes of Anderson, Tomac, Canard (if he can keep it on 2 wheels) and a few more ride-over-my-head heros to dethrone The Diesel. Plus Cooper Webb and Jeremy Martin? Adding Mookie in the mix would be an 'also ran' . . . . around 10th place or so. ::embarrassed::

Only so much you can do in training. There's nothing like the heat of the battle to sharpen your sword. If Stewart wants to find some new speed he'd need to ride MX.

OTOH, I'd want a break also. Running both SX and MX is a pretty grueling schedule. Tip of the visor to all those guys who do both for us fans, fame and glory (and contract).

Best,
- c bob

There are probably a million factors involved in the final decision. I was looking forward to seeing him race outdoors personally. ::cheer:: He's usually good for a lot of entertainment on social media.

He's really been on as of late. I'd have liked to have seen him, but I see his intentions also. Hope it works for him.

Yeah. I can see why he made the decision. The odds of sustaining an injury that could set him back for SX are probably fairly good with the level of competition he would see. Then again, if you are pushing the limit during training in order to build more speed and talent for SX, it can happen there too.

I'm taking it that he didn't have any kind of contract for Nationals in place, and probably wasn't offered enough money to run the series?

I tend to agree with that assessment. If there was enough money, he would be there on a 250. If you can't get a good paycheck and enough support out of it, might as well get off the 250 and start learning the 450.

Considering his fitness (or lack of) at Daytona, I'm not sure he was an outdoor threat anyways.

Yea, GRUELING job, working 10 months out of the year, making a mill! (in mookies case 5) Riding a dirt bike all week, hitting the gym. OH wait, I work 50 to 60 hrs. a week, make less than 50 thous. a year, go to the gym, working on my bike, cut the grass, clean the house, baby sit grand kids, ect. it never ends, and it cost me a mill a year! YEA, REAL GRUELING JOB.

Get a real job and try that! ::cry::

It's sounding like he was offered a 250 ride with full support but no salary. His pay would have been bonus (Based on results? what a novel idea!) based instead.

He turned that down, now A1 is 5 weeks away and he doesn't have a ride. Makes you wonder if Honda would have kept him on if he had agreed to run outdoors.
