Salvation
Creation reveals God. God created everything (Genesis 1-2; Jer. 10:16). Creation reveals God’s greatness (Amos 4:13). Through everything God designed and made, we can clearly see evidence of Him and have no excuse for not knowing Him. (Rom. 1:18–20).
God can’t tolerate sin. God is holy (Rev. 4:8) and can’t coexist with evil (Gal. 5:16–17) or sin (Isaiah 59:2). All people are guilty of sin (Rom. 3:9–12, 3:23). God is all-knowing (Rom. 11:33) and omnipresent, seeing all we do (Job 31:4). Punishment is a consequence of sin (Gen. 3:6–19).
God must punish sin. We are under threat of punishment for sin, violating God’s Holy Law given on Mt. Sinai (10 Commandments, Ex. 20:1-17). God is our judge (James 4:12). As a God of justice, He must punish sin (Exodus 32:34). Lies make us unclean (Matt. 15:18–20). Even lust is sinful (Matt. 5:28). God’s Holy Law shows we are lying, thieving, lustful, covetous, blaspheming adulterers at heart, separated from a Holy God. Our consciences show our sin (2 Sam. 24:10–15).
H-E-l-l is punishment for Sin. God will punish in H-E-l-l those who don’t turn from sin (2 Peter 2:4–9). Without salvation, we deserve eternal torment in H-E-l-l, as just punishment for violating God’s Holy Law. (Luke 12:5; 2 Pet. 2:4-9; Luke 16:22-31). H-E-l-l is a place of weeping and eternal fire (Matt. 8:12), originally prepared for Satan and demons (Matt. 25:41). Unsaved people who are not born again will receive God’s wrath in the lake of fire (Rev. 20:15).
Jesus was Sinless. Only Jesus kept God’s Holy Law, by living a sinless, holy life (Heb. 7:26). Jesus is the Son of God (Luke 1:35) and proclaimed he is the Messiah (John 4:25–26). Since Jesus alone is sinless (Heb. 4:15) and holy, only He could die on the cross to pay for our sins (1 Cor. 15:3; Eph. 1:7; Heb. 2:9). This was foretold by the prophets, see the Dead Sea Scrolls, including the entire book of Isaiah the prophet which scroll preceded Jesus’ birth by centuries.
Jesus paid the penalty for our sin. Jesus was punished on the cross for our sin (Rom. 3:25–26), He paid the penalty we deserve, for all our sin (Isa. 53:3–12). Jesus’ death rescues us from eternal punishment (Col. 1:13). One comes to God only through Christ. (John 14:6, also John 10:7 and 11:25). Only those who are spiritually born again can enter Heaven (John 3:3). Unbelievers will not enter heaven (1 John 5:10–12). Only righteous people enter heaven (Matt. 5:17–20).
Repentance is required. Unless we repent and follow Christ, we will perish (Luke 13:3–5). We must repent, turn to God, so our sins are wiped out (Acts 3:19). Repentance allows relationship with God (Luke 3:7–8). Our Godly sorrow works repentance, leading to salvation (2 Cor. 7).
God wants all to repent. God’s greatest desire is for everyone to repent and believe (2 Pet 3:9). God does not want any to perish (John 3:16). He sent Christ to save sinners, paying the penalty for our sins. (Mark 2:17; Luke 19:10). Jesus offers salvation to all (Matt. 9:9–13). God is gracious and merciful (Neh 9:31). God will not refuse any who come to Him (John 6:37–40).
