Looking to move to North Georgia around dawsonville possibly. Can't find any homes for sale with much land to ride on so is there any places that can be rode around legally? Here in South ga we just ride on back roads and ditches but know that's not allowed everywhere. Any advice preferably free places to ride. Just bought our 5 & 7 year olds four wheelers so can't move to a place where they wouldn't be able to ride pretty regularly anymore.

That's a tough call. It's pretty tight up here. Even the USFS forest roads are off limits to untagged vehicles.

Is Dawsonville a must? There's Dawsonville Forest but no motorized. You're looking at mountain biking at best.

If you have a little flexibility you could move close to one of the resorts, Highland Park (Cedartown) or Durhamtown (Union Point). Durhamtown would be better for the young ATVs. They have annual memberships to even out the cost of riding.

Hope that helps . . . .

Best,
- c bob

Dawsonville isn't a must. We just spent vacation there camping and love it. But the top priority would be school ratings. Coming from bad school districts and piddley-poo jobs so wanting to upgrade all around when move but not loose the ability to ride at the same time.

There is a private club up in Dawsonville. I don't know the name of it but a friend of mine is a member. I rode there last year. Its pretty pricey at about $1000 to $2000 for the first year and then it goes down from there. They have a small lake where they have a wake board winch line set up, and they have a paved Go Kart Track thats pretty cool and would be awesome for mini motards. A not so specatacular MX track and a bunch of Jeep, Quad and Dirtbike only trails. Its not far outside of the main town area there off GA400

Not far from Dawsonville is the Whissenhunt USFS trails. It is a good place to get seat time. Some challenging trails. Nothing like Highland Park but better than no place at all. It is closed from Jan 1st to the middle of March each year. The only down side, it is a USFS trail and there are only 2 trails that are one way and motorcycles only. The rest of the trails are 2 way and open to all OHV's. Call before you haul. If you can ride during the week, rarely will you run in to anybody.
