Moving to bragg, final load is friday, the only place I've found with trails so far is Devils Ridge, but it's only open 2 days a month, and it does not have much single track

anyone know of any pay to ride or pay to become member places?

It doesn't look like it will be too far for you if I have my bearings straight on where Sanford, NC but if you go to Raleigh and hit 85N to Henderson, NC they have a place called North Carolina Motorsports Park. It looks to be abround 90 miles from Sanford which I suppose is a bit of a haul but not so far that a day trip or weekend trip couldn't be made. I stopped there once on my way back to GA and rode trails with my brothers who live in Virginia. They had some good trails ranging from expert to beginer with a few gnarly hill climbs. They promote mostly MX and have several tracks but I found the trails fun and challenging.

This is from their site:

NCMP has over 230 acres of rolling wooded terrain which has been transformed into a motorsports park that has something for riders of all skill levels. Nearly 120 acres are dedicated to trails ranging from pee-wee to expert single tracks for the advanced off-roader.

Their web site is:

http://www.ncmp.net/ncmambo/index.php?o ... e&Itemid=1

Hope this is somewhat helpful.

Sorry to hear you're leaving the area and I wish you guys the best up in NC.

I grew up in Sanford, Devil's Ridge being my first experience with bikes, HOOKED!! There's an offroad bike, truck, atv towards Albemarle, NC. Not too far away. Also, near Raeford, NC there's a pretty awesome MX track, Wide Open??? Not sure, not much of an MX'er.

You're toooo far from Brown Mtn or Brushy i guess, not too close either I guess.

There's a few small local areas to ride near Carthage but really we don't know how good we have it here for sure!!

Good luck!

I go up 3-4 times a year to an area about 30 minutes or so north of Bluefield. Much closer than most HM areas but they do have one near where we ride. LOTS of hill climbs and more open stuff but always fun fun fun! Take you about 4 hours at most.

Most of the better riding areas are going to be located west of you (Brushy Mt, Brown Mt.) ::rant::

There is Outback Atv Park in Laurinburg. I haven't been there in a while but they have some dirt bike trails and a group of regular bike riders who were cutting some new stuff the last time I was there. We sometimes go there prior to some of the SC enduros--it has some sandy soil at Outback.

Join the forum at www.nchsa.org (the NC Hare Scramble Series), just this month there was a post about some guys in Fayetteville looking for some people to ride some stuff they had just cut in. There are some regular racers from that area who should know where some local stuff is.

We ride some local stuff that you would be welcome to (its hit and miss)--we should be about 1.5 hrs west of Sanford.

You'll find most of NC is private land and with a state government that has zero interest in ORV usage you end up riding on private areas most of the time. We do alright with finding places to ride and most people are willing to share access.

Hey BTW, good luck with the move and all. Why are you moving? We rode once together at Broad River. That was a good day with that big group through all that single trk.

I used to live in Holly Springs NC just a short distance north of Sanford. I would never suggest that you ride in the thousands of acres surrounding the Nuclear plant and core of engineer property in Holly springs. hint/hint Get to know the locals. There are a few places around you just have to know the right people. If you are into mountain biking there is a lot of good single track around that area.

Devils Ridge isn't too bad for moto but the trails are kind of a pain. It was logged back in 2006. The 2007 NCHSA event there still lives on in my mind as one of the worst races I've ever ridden. One inch off the trail and you were hitting logs, stumps, rocks, etc. It's gotten better since then though.

Most everything has already been covered but I'll back up the fact that the majority of the riding is either going to be private places or races.

Good luck with the move 'deth....there's lots of riding around if you want to drive, and like tracks. I don't know about trail riding tho.
