Power
My bike is ported and polished by pro circuit pro circuit pipe/silencer boyesen pro series reeds,51t tooth vortex rear/front 15t vortex,Bottom end is beastly for any two stroke It lift the front end without the powerband just like a 250f bottom end, then mid range the power band is brought on harshly with the unique hpp valves, but when you are in tight stuff and have to clutch it alot it will pull you even harder so hang on,then top end is nice, revs smoothly out with out hurting the powerplant.
Ergonomics
Like any other mx bike hard narrow seat stiff and every thing is right there if you need it.
Suspension, Front
I dont like it to much to say the least its pretty soft but it sucks up nasty whoops all at the same time you can ride it all day without killing your back. But honda did just introduce their first ever inverted air shocks which was a new world but I still have yet to sent them in for a rebuild.
Suspension, Rear
Nice still to soft for me but takes anything you throw in its way.
Brakes
nice not really touchy but perfect.
Comments
crazy power will give any newer bike a run for its money, decent suspension, and great reliability what else could you ask for?

Power
Good. The bike is a mad torquer. The one I rode was all set up for woods racing with FMF Gnarly pipe, flywheel weight etc.
Suspension
The shock is good, but the forks are extremely soft.
Brakes
They stop you.
Comments
This is a good bike if you can't afford something newer that handles better and has better suspension.

Power
this power is unreal. my bike is bored out about 40cc's and is ported for top end, this thing has ok bottom, enough to get the front wheel off the ground, then a smooth transition to a goood mid, to keep it off the ground, and then....BAM!! it kicks into high end, which is insaine, which keeps the wheel up and flips u right back if u dont know how to handle it.... but its great power, i love it :-)
Suspension
the suspentions on my bike is redone by the pro's and it is a bit soft for my liking, it was made for someone about 20lbs lighter than me, but it still works for me fine, i have only bottomed them out a few times and if u see how i jump you would be impressed with them as well!
Brakes
the front is awsome but the back...........they are ok. u have to stomp them to get them to lock, but i think it just needs a new rotor
Comments
i love this bike. it is so much better than the '86 that i had, which was also motified heavily.. worth buying if the one ur looking at is in good shape..

Power
once spent $1400 on it to get it up to peak performance again this thing flys. goes much much harder and faster than an 83 model with an extra 10cc bored out. now that i have got it running awesome the power excellent and nice to use.
Suspension
pretty damn good with the front rebuilt and being 13 years old. still goes as stiff as u want it to
Brakes
front aren't as good as people say they are i didn't think, but i can still get the back end up in the air. back brakes are heaps better than i'v read from other people, i can't see y they don't like them, they lock up for me when i don't mean too
Comments
i'v currently got it up for sale, but i don't want to sell it coz its my life and i'v done so much on it! if u come across one in the same condition as mine then get ur hands on it straight away! coz u won't turn back

always been able to stop before I hit something.

This is an awesome bike. Just learn how to jet your bike, and it will be trouble free. Also recommend replacing the plastic stator cover.

The '89 CR250 I rode was bored 40 over and was ported by pros for Top-end. Well, as you would expect, the low-end is rather mild, it would transfer into a decent powerful mid, and then hit the high-end like a crazy mad machine. Impressive power. Wierd setup.
Suspension
A bit soft, but it was still set-up by pros, don't understand why they would want it so soft.
Brakes
Rear sucks and the front is great. Bad combo. But, they both work, so that's what counts. Rear works, I think it is a problem with the current bike though. I don't think it is a model defect.

Awesome power. this bike picks up and goes! Good bottom and mid, excellent top end power
Suspension
Good suspension for a 12 year old bike. i'm currently getting the front forks rebuilt
Brakes
front are really good with new brake fluid. back are good too, i don't see why people don't like them. they work for me.
Comments
this bike is all round a good moto-xer. just learn to keep the engine running in the top end once in a while (if not more often), otherwise u will be going through spark plugs everytime u ride

bike has enough power to shoot roosts and tear up some US forest service land
Suspension
suspention is good with a couple click stiffer from stock.
Brakes
stops like nothing else. you'll never hit any poor forest creatures or dogs because you will screach to hault.
Comments
this is a great bike and if you see one than you should go and buy it. this bike is still competative . raced it and got first place in 250 pro. beats 2001 kx and rm and yz 250s if you ride it right.

Power
Well the low end is ok for a 250, but it packs a punch in the mid, then smoothly takes the power into top-end. Hard to keep the front wheel on the ground.
Suspension
Plush.(to say the least)No really, it is very good for small jumps and the odd mx track. Might need to toughen up both for seriouse jumping.
Brakes
Front works too good, the rear is shocking, you realy need to press down hard to lock the rear.
Comments
A very nice hack bike. Great for learning to monno, powerslide, roost, and realy anoy the F**K outta the guy behind you!

Power
Honda reduced the bike's engine compression slightly. This reduction gave the all red Honda CR 250 fair low-end power that would transition electrically into a powerful mid-range! It would keep pulling hard in the high RPM range too. The 89 CR 250 produced a shade more horsepower in the low and mid-range than the 88 CR 250.
Suspension
The 89 CR 250 upside down forks and rear shock required heavier springs and revalving before the machine hit the showroom floor. In stock form, the suspension was harsh and bottomed easily. Only pro riders liked the suspension.
Brakes
Very good very few problems
Comments
Honda refined its already super competitive CR 250 Honda continued to put excellent detailing on their bikes. If a rider can live with the machines realtively mild low RPM power, the 89 CR 250 will make a decent trail/play bike. If the rear shock can be revalved, the bike is truly great and can still be used for racing! Remember though, these modifications require cash.
Other notable design updates:
Revised engine porting
Steering angle was increased by 0.75
