great bike (Score:1)
Power
no bottom end whatsoever. but did you buy a 2 stroke to stay in the low end?

mid range is pretty good. really pulls away

top end is unbelievable. screams and revs and can throw you off the back.
Ergonomics
quite good. bars are nicely positioned, easy to use all the controlls. seats rough as hell though
Suspension, Front
really good. stiff but doesnt make rock you around from speed ruts.
Suspension, Rear
same as front.
Brakes
put a brick wall infront of your bike and hit it. thats the best way to replicate the brakes.
Comments
great bike, runs well, amazing power and light, oh so light.

No bottom end power. The mid-range pulls pretty good and then wanders off again on top.
Suspension
The Showa suspension is awesome. One of the best stock suspension systems out there.
Brakes
Really good. Stops quickly.

Good overall bike. Could use more power in the low and top end. It wont climb hills in second gear, you need to stay in first or it will bog then stall.

Power
Typical 2-stroke power, I weigh 230 and this is my friends bike, he runs race gas and it's completely stock. There was no bottom, you could feel it coming in the mid-then BOOM! the front wheel lifted off the ground easily, but it required you to just about pin it with the clutch in to get to the top end.
Suspension
Nice, He weighs like 160lbs so it was soft for me.
Brakes
Nice brakes, did an unexpected stoppie.
Comments
He had a delta reed valve, bored big time(special made Wiseco piston), high compression head, FMF SST pipe and silencer, and I think that he has a bored carb. We raced before it siezed(mine is a 1991 Suzuki DR250) and I was 20ft. ahead until he found the top end. Nice bike, enthused me to get a 2-stroke.(not a 125 :D)

2000 - 2002 Update: Stock: Suffers from lack of bottom & top.

Fixes: Best reed block assembly 2000 moto tassinari delta V 2. 2001 model suffers from reduced intake including the 2002. 1HP Gain.
Experienced Mod: Drilling to fit 2000 YZ 125 reeds and intake - cage not needed OEM works. 1HP Gain with a nice hit in the mid.

Piston: Stock too much clearance replace with aftermarket asap. Damange to bore could happen if oem top ends are not properly maintained. If you run a husqvarna vertex piston bottom end incases, less clearance crank case pressure increase. Must run race gas or install two head gaskets or head mods done. Bike will ping if not done.

Silencer mods: Run a shorty silencer with this mod. It is the best silencer for this bike.

38 MM Carb: Gain 1 HP on top end bottom and mid improve alittle overall 1HP gain. Stock air boot works.

Case fix: 2000 model only fixed in '01
Cases need to be machined to fix case casting flaws. Causing blockage in the reed block to intake ports.

Suspension
maybe too stiff for lighter riders feel alittle sore after practice? ;)

Updated recommended jetting specs for sea level conditions. #40 pilot jet #2170 needle 2nd clip #380 main. As compared to previous post the #2170 needle cleans up the choppyness of the #2070 needle. The bike runs more crisply with this needle I highly recommend it.

the 2001 cr 125 doesnt have very good bottom end but great mid range an ok top it kinda hard to keep it in the powerband though.
Suspension
suspention is awsome as usual its the best you can get for being stock suspention. if you do up grade i suggest that you get the procircuit suspension for front and an olean shock for the back its the onlyway to go!
Brakes
breaks are good as usual although i would suggest getting the discs that look like kinda like a star and arnt in a perfect circle.they seem to last longer.
Comments
its a great beginer bike and when it gets old you can always up grade it with the fmf sst and power core 2 that will liven things up a little! but when that gets old i would get a 2002 cr 250 those i think will rip!!!! thanks for reading my review.

little bottom end or none at all. Awesome midrange but it doesnt want to rev on top. This bike has a tricky power band it's great for beginers but after using it for a while it gets old. Stock jetting is bad you get a lot more power if you tweak with it. This bike takes time and money to get a good powerband.
Suspension
Great suspension one of the best in the 125 stock class.
Brakes
usual awesome honda quality.
Comments
When I first got this bike I thought man what a rocket ship. After riding it for a while and trying other peoples 125 yz's and ktm's you feel kinda jelious. Recently i've been upgrading this bike a whole lot. My powerband keeps getting better and better. Last week I went to the race tracks and got first. If you have a 2001 cr125 here is my advice. redo your jetting I live near the cost and i'm running a 2070 needle in second clip, 40 slow jet, and a 370 main this seems to help that weird nose on the bottom and let me zing throught the powerband. I got a wiesco piston this seems to help a little but nothing huge. I got pro circuit pipes this increased my power band a good deal. I just got a v-force delta 2 reed valve, if you have the money I would really recommend getting this it really helps this bike out a lot. If your really serious you could send your engine to fmf or pro circuit and have them re port it split the cases etc. Personally If I had the chance to buy this bike again I would. I love my cr125. I have learned so much about mechanics because of this bike and trying to get it to go faster. If you put some work and money into this bike you can keep right up with your yz and ktm buddies. If your looking to buy a new bike and just want to go fast without much extra money or work get a ktm, rm, or yz. If your looking to do big air, like fucking aroudn with mechanics, got some spare money and time I would get a cr125. All my work ont his bike is finally paying off all my buds with there bikes are starting to have to upgrade their bikes because my cr is starting to get that power that I crave.

sleepy on the bottom or what bottom, comes on early in the mid and has a nice punch/snappyness to it. Rev's into the top but doesn't make any power. Not much better with FMF SST pipe & standard power core II silencer. Only gives it more mid and only lets it rev out higher slightly. mossbarger 10mm reed block spacer only added to it slightly. My bike had a main seal problem since new it was bad on the right side. Recommended jetting for sea level conditions. 2070 needle in 2nd clip #40 pilot jet stock main. air screm at 1 3/4 turns out. Bike's motor has a wierd qwirk, let off the gas and it acts like it has a very small case of engine compression like a 4 stroke really odd. Great for beginers or novices, not good for anyone used to top end screamers.
Suspension
Great excellent stock, especially the forks alittle stiff for trail work, but great for mx picks up small bumps well and plushly and takes big landings and motor hits excellently I couldn't get the forks to bottom out hard. Rear Shock is also excellent just like the forks action is really balance front an rear. Shock sometimes over whoops has a wierd *thump* like sensation. Otherwise excellent shouldn't have to mess with it much to dail it in.
Brakes
Excellent, typical honda stuff here.
Comments
Get a vforce reedblock for it! needs to be ported to be competetive with YZ RM KTM on top end power.
