Top end very good, mid rang good and the bottom end, well it is a 125. over all it is a rocket.

Front is perfect, the back is kind of soft but works great. I would not try to jump anything too big though.
Brakes
They work when I need them.

If you wan't a real bike get a 1986 Honda CR125 it wont let you done, it keeps up with the new stuff and then some. I love this bike, I would not trade it for a new one. Don't waist your money on a new one when you can have the same thing for a grand or two. It is worth it trust me.

I'll sum it up in one sentence "Best engine of the 1980s fast enough to beat some meager 250s"
Suspension
Fantastic front and rear. The 1987 was considered the BEST FORKS ever put on a Honda, but I personally liked the 1986 forks and shock better than the 87 model.
Brakes
Fantastic both front and rear.
Comments
Best 125 of the 1980s - but the 1989 KX125 had better forks.

great. obviously the dipshits who wrote the review are retarded or Ricky carmicheal. Guess what there guys, this bike will keep up to a brand new yz125, and here's another interesting little tidbit,..... If you want bottem end, you shouldn't be driving a goddam 125. so the moral of the story is, like 13 othere people have reviewed this machine and given it great reviews, and another thing, It won like every fucking shootout in 1986, so don't shoot shit about a good bike unless you know what you're ytalking about. Obviously, it is appearent that you don't know anything. Write sa review somewhere else where assholes can appreciate it.
Suspension
yes, the rear is a little soft but, guess again... the bike is now 16 years old ! and I kbnow more than 1 person who has never had any major problem wqith the suspenion, excellent for an old machine
Brakes
excellent, the rear disk is a complaint but hey, only kawasaki had the rear disk in 86' and it was trash. stoppies andlocking up the tires are no-problem here.
Comments
excellent ride. when freshened up will keep up with and outrun almost any newer bike, and if properly maintained, will last forever a great machine, regardless of what dipshits say about it.

Excellent for older or even a newer bike.(within reason). My bike has a DG pipe and silencer, boyeseen carbon fiber reeds, bored 60 thousandths over with a specially drilled wiseco piston for less weight and oil holes to lube the bridge on the exhaust side, a 36mm Keihin carb, a 51 tooth rear sprocket, and the engine has been done by Pro circuit.Ilater added an entire Hinson clutch system, because the stock unit kept slipping. My friend has a 2001 KTM and I rip him apart, whoever is on the CR, no matter what conditions, will always win. I xcan wheelie this bike in 6th by slipping the clutch, and will blow by those inferior 250f's. I have 1900 into the engine, which is far less than that of a new bike. Ok the motor was fine, but s I became a better rider, I could hndle the power, and then one day I just decided to tweak her to the max. crazy machine to hold on to.
Suspension
Yet another modifid aspect of my machine. My bike was raced when I bought it, I replaced the linkage, and put new springs, valves and seals in both front and rear. It changed the handling of the bike, BUt now performs equally or even as well as that 2001 Ktm, even though his has much better adjustability than mine. Excellent nonetheless.
Brakes
Well maybe not do-it-all, because of the rear drum, I bought an EBC oversized rotor kit, but had to achine special; brackets to fit because the earliest model that I could find one for was a 1988. I had to because the rear is so spongy and fades fast, I neede to regain some of that leverage lost in the front. I like the steel braided lines, not even the new bikes have those.
Comments
THe only thing about this I really don't ike is the rear brake. you can't buy better pads, and it is 1200 dollars for a new hub, disk, lines, pedal and resevior(used I might add, off a 1987) I bought this bike for 300 canadian, and sold it for 3500 to a friand who knew how fast this bike was and the potential it harnessed. I put the money an a down payment on a 2002 CR250, and I tested one at my dealewrship and power feels about the same, there is more bottom and mid on the 250, but I think in top, a matchup between the two would be dang close, If I installed the 49 tooth back on the 125. the 250 does also have better ergo's equal suspesion, brakes that are better, and a motor I don't have to rev the heck out of to go fast. but never fear, moifications are a must on any bike, well in my mind, that's just because I like a bike that is worthy of a pro, to make up for my ability to take whoops and corners with jump after them, on my 125 if you didn't have the speed just right you either bailed, or rode it out and got passed by aboiut 30 riders, if nothing was wrong. An excellent bike, cheap to buy and modify (If you nad find part_ and very very simple to work on, if the time comes, recomennde as playbike to anyone and racebike to those that know how to slip a clutch (IN stock form) almost sad I sold it

sleepy on the bottom but hits hard and fast in the mid and screams into the top end and revs to the moon the best kind of 125 MX motor. My bike was ported by pro circuit and had pro circuit pipe and carb boring mods. Could out pull most newer bikes with ease, smokes my '01 CR125.
Suspension
I can't truely comment on the suspension, my shock was in need a rebuild bad. Suspenion was modified by pro circuit, Fork action was excellent plush for small bumps and soaked up big hits without a problem I couldn't bottom these forks hard they was that good even slightly worn out! Rear shock not so good only average even after the revalve. took small to medium bumps fine but bottomed hard on big hits and huge landings. Rebound must be dialed in properly bike kicks bad when your off slightly.
Brakes
Front disc is great good honda stuff here, not as positive feeling in the lever or quite as powerful as newer brakes but very good I could never get them to chatter or fade. Rear drum only average, likes to come loose requires you must sure it stays tight. I rode the bike for 4 months without a rear brake it can come loose that easy. :)
Comments
Remove ATAC chamber doesn't work, if you want a hard running bike definetly remove it get the bike ported for more mid/top and run a pro circuit pipe setup. #160 main jet 2 or 2 1/2 turns out on air screw works the best. Sad I sold it.

sickly fast for an older bike. It is a little week on the bottom but quickly explodes into a massive mid-range. Not to mention it's ability to rev to the moon and still make good power.

does the best an older bike can do
Brakes
front is great- back could be better but gets the job done.
Comments
my bike has an ignition prob and wont spark somtimes(actually it will usually not have a spark) I have talked with other owners and noone else has had trouble. I think this is just a freak accurance. Otherwise this bike is a blast to ride and in stock form it can keep up with or beat a lot of the newer bikes with ease.
