MX175: the poor man's YZ? (Score:1)
Power
ha ha, power, good one! nothin there, heck nothin' anywhere. you have to fork bounce wheelies in 1st! smooth power delivery, but only 'cause zero power is natually smooth.
Ergonomics
although very vintage(long steel tank, thick banana seat) i loved the ergos! low feel to it, easy to move around on. because there's no power, you have to keep up momentum and these ergos let you do it!
Suspension, Front
don't let 'em fool you. oh sure, it looks like there's forks out front, but they're purely for show. they don't really absorb anything larger than a pile of field mouse droppings.
Suspension, Rear
i really have my doubts that this suspension system ever moved. almost like the spring was just tack welded to the frame to give the illusion of suspension. if you count frame flex as suspension then you have an argument for movement.
Brakes
it was slow enough that you could drag you feet to slow it down, so any brake system that marginally worked, worked awesome!!!!
needless to say, the breaks worked awesome!!!
Comments
despite all of it's deep routed promlems, i loved this little bike. it's fun factor was though the roof. sure it's no YZ but i can have almost as much fun on it. if you can pick one up for free, don't pass it buy. but if alot money's gonna change hands, or your gonna race, get a YZ.

Power
i can go faster on my pedal bike(seriously)
Suspension
always bottems out
Brakes
drum, and small ones at that, i don't use them but i never ride the bike, if you do use them-make sure that you plan to stop way ahead of time
Comments
i wouldn't buy one, but with a newer engine and some different shocks and forks, it could be a good bike

Power
This bike is tame at lower revs, but pulls smoothly into a o.k. midrange. Just rev it out and it will go o.k. Easy and reliable engine and good size for all ages.
Suspension
Front forks are good, there could be more travel and action though, they are good and reliable. The back "de-carbon" system has the YAMAHOP. Let's put it this way, you stand up when other newer bikes with pro link sit down. Other than that if you don't mind getting bounced around it's good.
Brakes
It depends, on dry days they are good, if you keep them in shape, but when you have ridden through a hefty puddle, make sure to leave room before you stop. And if you don't sand the rust off of the back specialy, it will just lock up.
Comments
Good all around bike. I love it for what I do, but no moto crosser. Even though I have gapped atleast 15-20 feet with it, I would rather NOT feel the suspension bottom out. Makes a fun killer trail bike and has vote for origenality. Plus you don't have to mix the gas, it's autolube.
