Power
Low end is good
Mid is great
Top end is great

Picks up very well from a stop.
I have a fmf gnarly and a fmf power core silencer on my bike and the bike rides unbelievable. Definitly a powerful bike.
Ergonomics
Very straight forward layout. Easy to get used to.
Suspension, Front
Excellent. Not too soft, not too hard
A little softer than what I expected.
Suspension, Rear
Excellent. Again, not too hard, not too soft.
Brakes
Excellent. Stops me on a dime.
Front can be a bit touchy.
Comments
Best $2000 i ever spent. It is a blast. Best bike ive owned. Beat a 2001 YZ250 in a race.

My '96 had a lotta' motorwork by Eric Gorr, so it may not be like the stockers. Great bottom, smooth midrange, but not much on top. The head had been milled for more compression (it kicks harder than a 500) and I think that explains the type of power delivery it had. It was fast and easy to ride.
Suspension
Proaction front and rear (revalved both ends and new rear spring) and it worked flawless. Front was not quite what you could rightly call plush, but still not uncomfortable either.
Brakes
Absolutely perfect. They never should have changed a thing, and everybody else should have copied them exactly.
Comments
Great bike. Do it all, from motocross to woods/playbike, this thing always seemed to be comfortable. I rode it 3 years and actually made money on it when I sold it.

The brakes were outstanding! The response was very quick and it stopped the bike realy easy. The front brake is better than the rear because I use it the most when I race and my position is always in the top 4.
