the story of what was.... (Score:1)
Power
Well mine is nowhere near stock. we went crazy when we built this motor as a 450 hunter and it does that and much much more. In all five throttle responce is instant and athorative. Instantly grabs the power band at low RPMS andscrolls right to the rev limit effortlessly. Absolutly flies out of corners and up even the biggest hills with ease. Very snappy with loads and loads of low to midrange grunt with pleanty on top. Gotta love this thing. With the right gearing can take on any thumper and make all the boys with valves cry the blues. Get one.
Ergonomics
Has a good feel for an older motorcross bike. Has the right feel and the right height to be a champion. Grreat overall layout and a good feel on all the controls. Comfortable ride if set up right. Not too tall or too small.
Suspension, Front
Does a damn good job for a 20 year old bike. pleanty of adjustment and very compliant. havnt blown the fork seals yet and am no stranger to going a lot bigger than any CRF ever thought about. Heheheh Get some. Picks up the small stuff well but still lets you know the tire is on the ground, when it is on the ground. managed to bottom it once but only noticed due to the sound of the fender hitting the tire. Lol oops. I thought the frount end did a better job then my buddies YZF450 with pro cicruit forks on it and thats saying something.
Suspension, Rear
Good stuff for a dinosoure. Again lots of adjustment in both directions. Soaks up the trail nasties and never bounces or slides or bottomes. Takes on the trail stuff to the big hits of modern supercross with no trouble at all. I like it but im wierd like that.
Brakes
They do a good job for what they are. The drum in the back slows you dont quick without the insta lock of older YZs good stuff. The frount is compliant and strong and does a great job of bringing the YZ back outta hyper space.
Comments
Im a firm believer in two strokes and this machine is one of the reasons why. Will out run, jump and turn a thumper if ya can ride it like a racer. Who said older bikes cant hold their own and then some.
