my rm 125 (Score:1)
Power
no bottom end at all (like most 125 2 strokes). mid range will keep it moving even up hill but doesn't provise a great pull. top end power is great! lots of pull! I'm running a keihin carberator off a cr250 on it because the origional was wrecked. runs better than with origional and gets to high rpm faster. with the gearing it has it can almost keep up to my 1981 kx250 on level ground, but falls behind fast on the large hills.
Ergonomics
light, and fun. controls and layout are great. bike has a nice stance.
Suspension, Front
just redone, and are good for a 1986 125.
Suspension, Rear
just redone and is awesome. like it way better than the front
Brakes
has new front disk. grabs very well and makes up for the not so good rear drums.
Comments
good, light bike to throw around at the gravel pit. good top end power and acceleration for gravel pitting, and jumping. not too well off road because of its lack of bottom end power.

I had my engine borred out to 155cc so it may be a bit diff. . low end is ok but not great , mid has faster accel. than bottom, When I hit top end I think it's hard to hold on:)
Suspension
suspension is alright front is a little soft and rear is about in the middle which handles MX pretty nicely ... I never have to worry about bottoming out
Brakes
fronts are pretty quik but disks are better and rear are not so great but they get around

Mine kills CR's

Power
non-existent,this thing was slow, powerband was on top(where it should be on a 125)but it still was way down on peak power compared to everything, the 86 rm 80 would blow it away, the only 125 i ever rode that was as bad as this was the 85 yz 125
Suspension
soft on both ends, rear linkage needed constant greasing or it would seize up
Brakes
didn't go fast enough to need 'em,draggin' your foot around a turn was enough to stop this thing
Comments
this has got to be one of the worst bikes ever made,i remember seeing these things still sittin' on the dealers floors in 89,they couldn't give 'em away too bad the rating on here only goes down to 60,that's being awful generous to this clunker

Well, I have been meaning to put this post up for quite a while, but........I'm lazy. The problem with the bike afte I had the engine work done was a leaky seal in the bottom end. WAKE UP AND SMELL THE FRICKEN COFFEE! For a brief period of time, it would outpull my buddies 1988 CR250!, and of course, my 1896 CR, until I did the same mods to my CR, and it would walk all over the Rm, but still, the powerband was best described as no bottom, torquer mid, and a top end that revs so high it would shatter galss for miles around. a real fun bike to dick around on..........but constantly wearing out rings:(
Suspension
This was my first attemt at revalving suspension.......SUCSESS! I had a suspension guru help out, and we managed to find spring and valves through a company called White brothers.....perhaps you've heard of them. The suspension was immaculate, soft enough for trails and stiff enough with resistance to bottoming that would handle softcore moto duty. I love the rear suspension on this bike....much better thatn the CR's
Brakes
pfffffff.........Don't even compare to the Honda
Comments
A decent all around biker, with a bit of cosmetic work, and the all bluue (UFO) plastic, looks pretty sweet with blue KX125 fenders front and rear.....a little fabrication required, but effective eye candy. Have radiators treated with a dry film to dissipate heat if you plan to ride/race fro extendedd periods, or install rads off of the 250, brackets at a machine shop where about $40(aluminum, at that) in stock from, a fragile sissy machine.....when modified, walks over 250's of later years....it was pretty funny to see that 250 get dusted. by two 125's....mine, and that Suzuki ( I have a secret passion for Suzuki and KTM, read my review for 2002 SX250.

pretty nice a little soft just right for trail riding
Brakes
rear drum is surprisingly good, front disk is also good

this bike is sick on top and can smoke alot of bikes, but bogs way to much when taking off, you just have to rev it high and let the clutch out

lacking bottom and midrange when I bought it this bike was no match for my cr. I had it ported and the timing advanced, along with a set of reed valves and a pro circuit pipe. a wiseco piston and hison clutch kit was added to handle the extra meat, and it still sucked. not a bad trail bike, but don't race it unless your against a kawasaki from the same year.
Suspension
decent. carries my ass fine on the trails, if I want to do big jumps, I use the honda.
Brakes
Front is fine, mine needs a new set of pads in the rear, you can spin the rear tire with your hand while the brakes are fully applied.
Comments
I'm actually quite surprised. of all the 86' bikes, this is the only one I haven't wanted to piss on, with the exception of my "superbeast" 86 CR125. with the exception of the engine, I would probably race this. It handles pretty sweet and the front brake is excellent as well, a sticker kit and maybe if I fiddle with the carb some, I might just have a serious competitor to the Superbeast, whic, oh yes, I've still only been beaten by a 1999 YZ 125. keep em' coming, I'm waiting for ya'
