Power
This thing rips! This engine likes to be shifted early,it has a tendency to rev very quick. I had a 2000 model and this thing would keep up with it on top and then some. off idle acceleration is weak until it hits.
Ergonomics
The controls and general layout are good,When you are riding you cant tell that this bike is old.
Suspension, Front
front end feels good for its age.
Suspension, Rear
Rear end is stiff , but it hooks up well on hard ground .I have not ridden it on wet ground yet. the rear linkage requires lots of attn because it has bushings instead of bearings.
Brakes
I replaced mine with the brakes off 92 rm 250 and they worked great. way better than old brakes.
Comments
Alot of people said this thing wont make a good trail bike, and they are right only because the motor wont run clean at low rpms . This thing does however make a good field burner.

Power
Ask and you shal recieve. The bottom power is a little weak but after about 3500 rpms this is no longer a problem. This motor pulls hard and revs like a an .049 on drugs. The power delevery is aggresive and this thing hits HARD. You had better pay attention to where you are in the powerband. The bike is pipey in stock form and will jump out from under you. The bike has some serious power for a 250. Not for the faint of heart or the unexperianced. Definatly not good trail manners. This is a race bike and to get any kind of power out of it you need to ride it like a race bike.
Ergonomics
Has that feels like a old friend feeling that hondas are so well know for. A little an the tall side. Has a strange stance but not in a bad way.
Suspension, Front
Iffy. The frount end gets really sqirly at speed. That is when you can keep the frount tire on the ground. The frount frok angle is a little steep so the bike wants to just knife into corners. Seems to work well on the bigger jumps though. The bike is just flat out squirly. You had better know what you are doing if ya gonna ride one of theese things.
Suspension, Rear
Works rather well. the pro link is a good setup. a bit jumpy and the really rough stuff but other than that the rear end seems to track nicely. Of corse the suspention is an older design but for the time it worked wonderfully. You spend a lot of time on the rear tire.
Brakes
The frount likes to grab so watch out or you will be looking @ the frount tire. The back works well for a drum but has a bad tendency to heat up and faid.
Comments
Picture this. Ya know that point of heitation right before you take off up some crazy hill or some insanly nasty trail. Yup aaaaannnnnndddddd ya stalled it. This thing behaves like a supercross bike. You either go, or you dont go. Pick one but ya cant just put around on this bike. All it will do is foul plugs. Pure bread race bike. this thing is outright MEAN AND NASTY.

Power
good spread of power, more peak than anything, hit kinda hard,a pro-circuit pipe smoothed it out and brought the top end alive
Suspension
descent, this was my dad's friends bike so i doubt he had it set up right, was stiff for me because i was only 13 and 115 pounds
Brakes
great front, first year for cr's to have the front disc, alot more feel than the kx disc's
Comments
if ya can find someone to tell ya the trick with the yz piston you'll love it,i can't remember the specifics of making the swap work,it's been a long time

Power
the cr had supreme power-especially considering its age. I bought one a year age and never looked back. the grunt is outstanding!!! in a flat out drag, no other 250 can catch it. what a gruntmaster, it is very responsive!!
Suspension
it has fair suspension, and is good for most jumps. it is not recommended for supercross or motocross without shocker replacement every so often
Brakes
the brakes are great. it has a front disc and rear drum. Very nice.
Comments
comes with very nice detailing. besides the sticker kit, the bike is flawless. it beats any xr!!!!!!!!!!!

Power
The bottom end power is reaonable for a vintage mx. It had little mid range and top end power for a 250. The bike was allright for motorcross but in the bush was blown away by fourstrokes.
Suspension
The suspension is allright for big jumps but for anything else it was to harsh and was a real kidney basher.
Brakes
The brakes on these old CR's where reasonable for there age but were not very reliable. I would have expected much better.
Comments
I own a bike shop up in the Kimberly's and cr's are my best customer because they are always breaking down. I sold my CR last year and bought a 95 XR 250 and there was no going back. My XR lives up to all my expectations and can blow my old CR out of the water. The 84 CR was a real waste of my time and money and was to gutless to give yo any real thrills.
