Power
The power is good. I rented a 1996 Kawasaki KDX 250, and the RM seems snappier than it. I rebuilt the top end, though, a rebore, hone, and new piston, ring, etc. I have trouble jetting the carb but I've never really been any good at it. I ride the Ortega Highway OHV area, lots of hill climbs and technical terrain, so far I've been able to climb the steepest hill with WOT, if I let up on the throttle, the engine bogs, and I don't want to die on the hill. Pretty much great on the power, but it has a TOUGH clutch.
Suspension
Suspension is a tadd stiff, but only because both rear shocks blew up and I had to retrofit some shocks from a Toyota pickup. They work great, but like I said, a tadd stiff. Better than paying for new shocks if I can find them. I bought some shocks for it on ebay, but they had pitting which is what caused the original shocks to die in the first place.
Brakes
The brakes are good, but not great. I have to pull the front in all the way to get good stopping power. The rear works great, but I don't ever use it.
Comments
It is a great bike for a hundred bucks, even though I put three times that into getting a new engine, and parts and stuff.
