My review will be based on the bikes performance when new (1979). Very similar to the previous model year all top end. If you didn't know how to use a clutch well you would have hated this bike. The most significant change from the '78 model is the '79 has a six speed gear box.
Very good. Slightly taller but, other than that identicle to the 1978 YZ80E. The '78 and '79 YZ80s made little dare devils out of thier riders in large part because of the layout of the bikes. Keep in mind we are talking about the early years of 80cc MX developement. They do not compare to todays modern bikes but, back then they were the best.
Excellent for the time.
Excellent for the time. more travel than the '78. The '79 also has a much stronger rear frame section than the '78.
