2001 Yamaha YZ125 Review (Score:1)
Power
The power is one of the best things on this bike. 6 speed really works well for off road racing and riding. Smooth power until about 6th gear, the gap between 5th and 6th is a lttle to much for me, but i dont regularly get into it.
Ergonomics
The stock settings on the bike are very good. Handlebars had to be rolled forward a little for my standards, I'm 5' 9" and can reach the gound on one side to kick it on the other.
Suspension, Front
Depending on what your plan is with this bike (MX or Offroad), you might want to revalve the suspension on both ends.
Suspension, Rear
Depending on what your plan is with this bike (MX or Offroad), you might want to revalve the suspension on both ends.
Brakes
Great brakes, only thing is the stock pads wear really fast.
Comments
Over all, this bike hauls. It can be run into the ground and still be alive when you get home. One thing that i dont like is that the aftermarket parts are getting harder to come by. But that doesnt make it any less than a Great bike!!!

Power
great not much bottom but huge mid range hit which leads on to a good top end. whellies in 4th@80kph.good tractible bike...........not fast enough to scare like a 250
Suspension
awesom havent felt better on any bike , long travel, plush but doesnt bottom gets the power down well but needs to be adjusted for hitting reasonable sized bumps at speed
Brakes
great at both ends the standard front tyre is crap in though. i tapped the back and ended up half way over the front mud guard
Comments
good for any riding type fast and nimble light so you dont get tired

Power
Decent, in stock form, it could use a LOT more power. It does have quite alot of low-mid range power for a 125. It does also have a pretty good top-end. But, not even enough to have the front end come up. Although, I weigh about 205lbs.. That should make a diffrence.. I was very unimpressed with the bike. I've ridden cr80s more powerful than this model. Stock form could really use some power. Cause it sure lacks it.
Suspension
Now, I have no complaints with the suspension. It can jump good without hitting the bottom. But, due to lack of power, it sucks at making big doubles and tripples.
Brakes
Brakes are good. They work. They stop you when you want to be stopped. That's what counts.
Comments
Overall, it's ok. Due to the fact of the cylinder blowing up on me, it is quite a nice bike. After a clutch and lasting a few races, it did well, I got 1st, DNF, 1st, 1st, 1st, 1st, 1st, and 3rd in my overall MX race with this bike in stock form. The DNF was due to the bike blowing up. :) Bike needs some work from stock. But, I will change that soon.
