Power
Good power, could use a little tweaking
Suspension
exellent, riders over 200 lbs. might need to modify.
Brakes
exellent
Comments
The 2001 that I rode belongs to a bud of mine. It is bone stock. It will do anything that my "98" KDX will do and it is slightly modified.

Power
This bike has great bottom, mid isn't bad, and top is good. This bike can creep through the woods.
Suspension
Real soft suspension, almost too soft...
Riders can adjust it to their needs.
Brakes
Brakes are Excellent!! Stops very quick.
Comments
I put a Pro Circuit pipe and silencer on mine to wake it up a little (also make it sound good). Changed the jetting, installed boyeson power reeds, and took the air box cover off. This is a great, quick, fast bike!!! I LOVE IT!!!!!

Power
The power is perfect for beginer and novice riders. It has ok bottom end, excellent mid-range and decent top end. It's predictable and controllable. It's built for the woods, but will give the mx guys a run for their money in their territory.
Suspension
The front suspension is very soft. Riders over 130 pounds will want to consider installing heavier springs.
The rear suspension is great. It will do well for riders up to 200 pounds.
Brakes
The brakes are generally good. The brake fluid should be upgraded to DOT4 to keep them from fading under long downhills.
Comments
I'll give this bike a rating of 100 for the following reasons,
-For the price of $3,999, you will not find a better bike for the money.
-I was looking at a KTM 300exc and a GAS GAS ec250/300 before I settled on this one. The price of those bikes are close to $6,200. A KDX with $2,200 in upgrades is twice the bike, but half the price for oem parts. This is a bike that can grow with your experience for little money. Or you can keep it stock and enjoy the ride.
-The next comparable bike is the Honda XR400, for $5,300.
